Abstract:
The lack of sufficient bone in the distal part of the upper jaw is often a problem in the planning and placement of dental implants. Various techniques are described in the literature, either by crestal or lateral approach.
Sinus lift procedures are used to allow residual bone to accommodate functional implants in atrophic posterior maxilla. Numerous anatomical and surgical advancements in sinus lift surgery are still inspiring clinicians.
Sinus augmentation has a high percentage of success, but presents a number of intraoperative and postoperative complications. The most frequent complication is the Schneiderian membrane perforation with a percentage of perforations between 11% and 56% according to authors
In the lateral sinus lift technique different bone substitutes are used alone and in combination to ensure sufficient bone volume.
The aim of surgeons are to achieve membrane safely approach technique for the sinus lateral wall osteotomy that minimizes the risk of Schneiderian membrane perforation.
In my lecture I will present some clinical cases and small videos from my routine practice about Maxillary Sinus Floor elevation by SLA-Sinus Lateral Approach technique.
