Abstract:
The advent of osseointegration has rapidly led to the use of dental implants over recent years. The number of patients receiving implants nowadays are growing bigger and bigger. High accuracy in planning and execution of surgical procedures is important in securing a high success rate without causing iatrogenic damage. Although plenty of implants are “successfully” osseointegrated in the patient’s jaws, complications are often inadvertent sequelae of improper diagnosis and treatment planning. Sometimes, the clinical outcome is often unpredictable due to the location and deviation that may not meet the optimal prosthodontic requirements.
Imaging has always been an important part of dental implant procedures from its beginning. Radiologists and implantologists always worked together in the dental implant field, where imaging takes a major place in exploring and pre-preparing the implant’s treatment plan. This can be achieved by the proper use of the computed tomography and especially the cone beam computed tomography “CBCT”.
The ultimate position of one or multiple implants relies on the collaboration of a prostodontist, and a radiologist. The result of this collaboration is the fabrication of the “RT” radiological template.
This presentation evaluates the three points radiological guide, its corrections in relation to the radiographical finding along with the introduction of the new Directional Surgical Template “DST” ® and the new guide’s 3D printing procedure.
